Sharpie plates - I got the off brand of Sharpies at Walmart for $1 and the plates from the dollar store. After drawing the designs on them, I baked them at 250 degrees for 30 minutes. I haven't tried washing them in the dishwasher yet, so I'm not sure if it worked, but I'll find out soon! It may work easier with porcelain paint pens, according to a few blog posts I read.
